Slowly Strollin’ in the Sweet Sunshine

Good alliteration, and yes – a line from “New Shoes” by Paulo Nutini. And for good reason…

I have a new pair of kicks! Specifically, a new pair of Merrell Camp Mocs which, for about the past 5 years, I’ve nearly worn daily. And I’ve worn out 5 pairs so far, still have three in my closet. Hey – you find something that works, you stick with it. My old ones have been donated to “Soles for Souls”, an organization which ships gently worn shoes all over the world and the recipients are basically third-world residents who would not otherwise be able to afford a pair of shoes. They still have quite a few footsteps left in them, and I hope those footsteps lead someone to where they’re supposed to go.

Happy Groundhog Day. I always remember it, because on this day in 1998, I went to work for US West (now Qwest). It was the start of an adventure that I will never forget.

Yeah, we watched the Stupor Bowl. At home. Pittsburgh was lucky to pull that victory out. We did football type munchables – TLMK made some great nachos, I made myself some Buffalo Thighs (yes, thighs – I developed a recipe and did them from scratch and they were great!) And then I developed a new recipe for Italian Tacos for Her Loveliness. A bit more complicated since it involves making parmesan crisps and then forming them into taco shell shapes while they are extremely hot. And one has to be used to the very intense flavor of melted Parmigianino Reggiano cheese. She loved them. And my Buffalo Thighs required several napkins – you can’t eat these with a knife and fork!

So no burgers or dogs on the grill for our game celebration. Don’t ask for recipes yet – I have to think back and figure out what I did first!

Karen: I also took two semesters of Transformational Grammar, as well as two semesters of Traditional (Classic) Grammar. (I still have my Strunk & White somewhere...) You are right; Grace was correct in re: the use of “me” vs. “I”.

Bloggers: an observation by TLMK - your blog is like a diary. Diaries used to be kept secret and hidden. Your diaries (blogs) are public. And easy for anyone with any Internet search skills to find. Ever Google yourself? I’m just saying keep it in mind when you write and/or publish something online and make it available to the general public. Oh, something else... others post info about you as well. Marcus - you preached in a Holland church on May 20, 2007. Just an example...

That’s it for this time. I’ve been backing up lots of stuff today in order to try the big switch again. And I bought a new wireless router this weekend. Our Circuit City store is closing, I had a gift card from there which I didn’t want to become worthless, my current wireless router has been acting very strange lately, and I got a good deal. But it’s a pain in the patoot.

Oh well. Gives me something more to work on in the next few days while my patoot heals.
